Job Description

With over 189 operations in 34 countries, the RPC Group produces thermoformed, injection and blow moulded packaging for well-known brands. We are now seeking to appoint a Day Engineer to join our team at RPC Promens site in Rushden, Northamptonshire. 

The ideal candidate will be a multi skilled engineer with a mechanical bias, having served a recognised apprenticeship with a minimum of 5yrs experience in maintenance. You will have a proven fault finding background, will be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical engineering/fitting, and be familiar with drives, controls and pneumatics. You will be working as part of a team supporting production priorities and looking to improve machine efficiencies in a continuous production environment whilst adhering to Health and Safety Regulations.

Duties will include projects and improvements as well as assisting with various aspects of site maintenance. Previous experience of plastic packaging processes or similar sectors would be advantageous. You will be working as part of a team supporting production priorities in a continuous production environment, while following RPC health and safety requirements. 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Supporting a program of TPM
  • Hydraulic fault finding and repair.
  • Assist with the planning of the service/TPM schedule, order and preparation of spare parts
  • Service and repair machinery plus ancillary equipment to a high standard
  • Improve overall machine efficiency through 6C suggestions and OEE
  • Undertake the fitting, installation, repair and service on new machinery plus ancillary equipment as and when necessary
  • Ownership of site services as part of the team. For example; fire detection and sprinkler systems, compressors and chiller systems.

The successful applicant will be expected to complete all relevant training courses offered.

Person Specification:

  • Apprenticeship served with minimum of 5yrs engineering experience in a maintenance role.
  • Experience of hydraulic systems.
  • Previous experience of plastic packaging processes or similar sectors would be advantageous.
  • Methodical and systematic approach.
